Turun Nuorisokiekko ry (Turku Junior Hockey Association) invites all IIHF hockey clubs to
participate the international junior hockey tournament, Turku Tournament. The Tournament
is organized at several rinks in Turku. Tournament is played according to the official IIHF
rules and national hockey rules for junior players.

Turku-tournament will accept 56 teams in each weekend. The teams are divided into level
tournaments of 8 teams in U 11, U12, U13 and U14 juniors. All teams have five (5) games.
The total active time of a game is 2x15 minutes in all categories. The maximum total time of
a game is 50 minutes, except the placement and medal games.
If needed, there is possibility to divide the teams into level tournaments of six or ten teams.
In this case the team will also have five (5) games.
U11 and U12 juniors follow SJL’s (Finnish Ice Hockey Association) competition rules that
are allowed in the post-season international tournament.
In the tournament for U10 will have max. two groups of 8 teams. The groups are divided
based on regional reasons and respectively follow normal rules for U11 juniors.
4. POSSIBLE ELIMINATION
If participants will be more than 56 teams per weekend, organizer has the authority to make
eliminations among the teams that have registered by 30.12.2011 and paid the registration
If the elimination is needed, the teams are accepted to participate in following order:
Teams of organizing clubs, requiring participation to work in the tournament
Other Finnish teams, however max. 1 team/club/level tournament
The organizer has also the authority to make the elimination based on its own consideration.
The decision is final and cannot be pleaded.
5. TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Junior Rules of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association (SJL) are used during the

A registration of participation must be made by email or in writing, no later than December
31st 2011, at 4pm. The participation fee is in this case 650 EUR/team. Registrations made
after this date, are considered as latter registrations, and the fee will in these cases be 750
After receiving application, invoice of registration payment (200€) is sent via email. Please
pay it as instructed, at latest on the due date mentioned on the invoice. Please use the
reference number in all correspondence in order to enable us to know who has made the
payment. In cases that teams are not accepted to participate, this amount of payment will be
returned as a whole.
If a team would cancel their participation, related to a Force Majeure reason, the organizer
can pay back the fee as a whole or a part of it.
If the cancelation is done after February 15th 2012, the fee is not refundable.
An email address to the team is mandatory in the registration, because all the information
from the organizer will be sent via email.

The remaining participation fee has to be paid to the organizer’s bank account. The organizer
will send a reference number to the participating team. The ref.number has to be mentioned
when making the payment.
The organizer has all authority to put a team in a group that seems suitable. There is the
possibility in registration form to make a wish in which level group the team wants to play.
Level check to the teams is made in the beginning of the year 2012 via email.
Approximately 56 teams are accepted to participate in each weekend. Possible elimination
will take place as it is told in the section four (4) in this invitation.
Foreign teams are always privileged to participate to Turku Tournament.
The organizer has also the authority to make necessary changes in the tournament rules when
needed. If changes are made, the organizer will inform the teams about the changes via

During the tournament, all important information referring to the tournament, results,
changes of schedule etc. will be available at the hotels. The hotels are located in downtown
Turku, from where any of the rinks can be reached by bus within 10-15 minutes.
