Round plastic canvas

Hook: H Hook

To join, sl st into the ch 1 of the row below, then ch 1 and stitch the row. Do not turn
your work unless specified.

TIP: In all the crochet in the round I do, I work on the inside unless specified. This
particular pattern is worked entirely on the inside.


INNER HEAD :

shapes on the eyes to imitate reflection.



EYELIDS (make 2, do not join, turn your work) :

In Cafe Latte:
1) Ch 2 , sc 3 in 2nd ch from hook.
2) Sc 2 in each sc. (6)

3) Sc 2 in each even -numbered sc. (9)
4) Sc 2 in each 3rd sc. (12) Leave a long tail; position as shown below and sew only
around outer rounded edge, not over the eye.



CHEEKBONE :

In Cafe Latt e:
1) Ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from hook.
2) Sc 2 in each 2nd sc. (9)
3) through 14) sc 9.
15) Skip every 2nd sc. (5) Leave a long tail; lightly flatten and sew to the Head with
tacking stitches as shown below.



FACE (make 2, do not join, turn you r work) :

In Cafe Latte:
1) Ch 15, sc 14.
2) Sc 2 in first sc, sc 12, sc 2 in last sc. (16)

3) Sc 3, ch 10, skip 10 sc and then sc 3. (6)

Make one as is and leave a long t ail for sewing. Make the second with row 20 added in
Platoon color, after every 2nd or 3rd sc, ch a random number between 9 and 14, then sc
back down to make his "branches". Sew both Faces together along all edges including
the inside of his mouth, makin g sure not to go over his branches up top.



FACE POSITIONING:

Sew the Face onto the Head where indicated by red lines in the below pictures. The
forehead should only be sewn through the back layer of the Face.

BOTTOM OF JAW (turn your work):

In Cafe Latte:
1) Ch 3 , sc 2.
2) Sc 2 in each. (4)
3) Sc 2 in first sc, sc 2, sc 2 in last sc. (6)
4) Sc 2 in first sc, sc 4, sc 2 in last sc. (8)
5) Sc 2 in first sc, sc 6, sc 2 in last sc. (10)
6) Sc 2 in first sc, sc 8, sc 2 in last sc. (12)
7) Sc 2 in first sc, sc 10, sc 2 in last sc. (14)
8) Sc 2 in first sc, sc 12, sc 2 in last sc. (16) Leave a long tail; sew behind row 1 of the
Face and to the base of the Head; this becomes the back and bottom of the open
mouth.

HAIR :

Sl st across the back of the Head in rows. Every 2-3 sl st's , ch a random number
between 9 and 14, then sc back down to make his "branches". Cover the head as shown
below.

Cut 70 -80 2" strands each of Light Sage, Spring Green, and Paddy Green and mix
together. Latch hook them throughout the hair branches; mostly at the ends, some at
the middle. A few can be sprinkled here and there on the scalp. Leave some branches
without any at all.

weight it down. Sew to rows 1 -7 of the Base. This will help Groot stand upright.

Sew in a spiral around the body, on an angle. Sew detail up the body in Platoon.

VINES (make 3):

In Spring Green:
1) ch 51. Sl st in at the base of the B ody, then ch a random amount. Hold the existing
chain to the body and sl st through the chain and body to tack the vine in place.
Continue this process working your way up the body until you reach the end, then pull
the loose ends into the body. See the below picture for detail.

UNDER ARMS (make 2):

In Platoon:
1) Ch 18, join, sc 18. Leave a long tail for sewing to the body.
2) Skip 1, sc 17.
3) Skip 1, sc 16.
4) Skip 1, sc 15.
5) Skip 1, sc 14.
6) Skip 1, sc 13.
7) Skip 1, sc 12.
8) Skip 1, sc 11.
9) Skip 1, sc 10.
10) Skip 1, sc 9.

3) Sc 2 in each even -numbered sc. (18)

6) Skip 1, sc 17.
7) Skip 1, sc 16.

branches with 3 inch pieces of green as you did the Hair branches.
