Pattern Giraf fe Gijs






Material Used stitches
Approx 125 grams Phildar Coton 3 or Catania ch = chain
for the body, the head, the ears and the legs sl.st = slip stitch
Approx 25 grams for the muzzle and the feet sc = single crochet
A little bit of fluffy yarn for the manes sc2tog = single crochet two
2,5 mm and 4 mm crochet hook stitches together
9 mm black safety eyes
Synthetic filling
If necessary felt for the spots

This is a basic pattern.
You can make stripes at your discretion .
Crochet the body, the legs for example with stripes.
It is also very nice to crochet the giraffe in one color.
Or you can choose to crochet no manes.
Just vary and you can make another giraffe each time!


BODY
You start with the bottom of the body.

1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook
2. 2sc in each sc, repeat (12sc )
3. 1sc, 2sc in the next sc , repeat (18sc )
4. 2sc, 2sc in the next sc , repeat (24sc )

Nostril (2x):
Crochet the nosetril in the same color as the muzzle!
Crochet 2ch
1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook
Close with a sl.st.
Sew the nostrils on the muzzle between row 5 and row 6 with 5sc between space (see pfoto).
Sew only in the back loop!

ANTENNAE (MAKE 2)
Crochet 2ch
1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook
2. 2sc in each sc, repeat (12sc )
3. 1sc, 2sc in the next sc , repeat (18sc )
4 -6. 18sc
7. 1sc , sc2tog, repeat (12sc )
Stuff the top of the antennae.

8. 1sc, sc2tog, repeat (8sc )
Change color !
9 -13. 8sc
Stuff the antennae further on .
Sew the antennaes on the top of the head between row 30 and row 33 with 2sc between
space (see photo).



EAR (MAKE 2)
Crochet 2ch
1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook

Sew the inside in the ear (see photo).

Stuff the front leg .
Close the front leg with 7sc .
Sew the front legs between row 40 and row 41 on both sides of the body.

MANES
Crochet the manes with fluffy yarn and a 4 mm crochet hook .
Crochet 3ch
1. start in the secound sc from the hook and crochet 2sc, 1ch (2sc)
2 -5. 2sc, 1ch
6. 2sc in one sc , 1sc, 1ch (3sc)
7 -29. 3sc, 1ch (3sc)
30. sc2tog, 1sc, 1ch (2sc)
31- 35. 2sc, 1ch (2sc)
Sew the manes between the antennaes and on the back side of the body (see photo ).

You can also choose to chrochet no manes .
Then the giraffe look like this:



TAIL
Crochet 2ch
1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook
2. 1sc , 2sc in the next sc, repeat (9sc )
3 -17. 9sc (15 rows )

Make a plume :
Cut 8 pieces of yarn about 10 cm.
Pull the 8 yarns through the end of the tail and knot it together.
Cut the yarns on an equal length (see photo?s 1 to 4).
Sew the tail between row 12 and row 13 on the back of the body (see photo).
