My favorite book is “Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog)” written by Jerome K. Jerome tells us the story of a holiday boat trip. The guys take a decision to spend a boating holiday on the Thames between Kingston and Oxford. They want to improve and prop up their poor and failing health. They take with them a dog, called Montmorency. When the three men start the trip, they discover that everything is not as easy as they expected.
At the moment the book has been translated into almost all languages of the world. During Jerome's life work was the most popular in Germany and Russia. The book has been adapted into English three times. She was read many times on the radio.
One of the merits of the author is that he represents the novel where we learn not only about the adventures of the main characters during the trip, but also about the local history of towns.
The narrator describes all the stages of the trip, starting by preparation of the friends in the flat of Jerome’s and finishing in London. Jerome pays a particular attention to the details.
The peculiarity of the novel that all personages don’t seem unreal. We can look at their follies and fears.
“Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog)” this is nineteenth century humor. The language of the novel is quite simple, clear to everybody.
This comedy makes us not only laugh, but it also demonstrates in way the problems of young men of the 19-th century. This book evokes the problems that are still actual for modern people, who also have stress and depression.
Heroes cheer us up and give hope to us that in any situations we will try to change our life. I recommend that everyone read this book. I’ve read many times. Each time I discovered a new side of the book.
